WIP: Anatomy Study – Male Hero/Bodybuilder

WIP: Anatomy Study – Male Hero/Bodybuilder

Sculpt of heroic male. Still a work-in-progress.

Sculpt of heroic male. Still a work-in-progress.

I decided it was time to work on my first (human) full-body sculpt in ZBrush. Through my reading of many “how-to” books, watching multiple hours of videos from other ZBrush artists, and inspiration from posting in ZBrush Central, it was definitely high time to build my own mesh. This is still very much a work in progress. With that in mind, I did want to share my progress through this project. I recorded the “sculpting” as I proceeded through my workflow. I am posting these videos here for your review. Any feedback is appreciated.

I began by sculpting the head. Using a “skull” model I previously created, I started by adding in muscle masses, then the epidermis, and finally added a little detail.

In this next video, I have projected (added) the head to a very basic body base mesh and began sculpting the figure.

In this final video, I made refinements and corrections to the sculpt, the added details to the mesh, like wrinkes, skin, etc.
After completing the recordings, I remeshed the figure using ZBrush’s ZRemesher plugin.

Then I added texture to the figure, and was pleased by the results. Here is a test render of the painted model.

While building this composite in Photoshop, I did notice some mistakes that I needed to fix on this model as seen here:

Here are some notes I made so I can fix some of the mistakes I made in this sculpt.

Again, this is my first attempt at a full-body sculpt. By no means am I posting this as a tutorial (I am nowhere near qualified to do so). I just wanted to share what I am working on here. If you have any thoughts, feedback, or tips, please feel free to share them.
