New Character: “Wally”

I have been inspired to create a new series of illustrations (more on that later). Meet Wally. Wally is a digital illustration of an everyday good guy alien dude. Wally here is going to be a character in an upcoming illustration. So, technically, this is a WIP (work in progress). I realized I hadn’t updated this site in a while, so Wally is my latest submission.

Wally was created and rendered in Zbrush, with the composite image produced in Photoshop. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Latest Work: Starman.

Here is my last illustration for 2013. Starman is the character I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. Created and rendered in ZBrush with post production completed in Photoshop. Let me know what you think.

Latest Work: Portrait.

I finally got it. For some reason, the effect I was searching for, to make this character bust look like a photograph of an “actual-looking,” “realistic” male heroic character, eluded me for way too long. But I think I finally got it. This character, which I have created for a sci-fi fantasy I am working up, was created in ZBrush, with final production completed in Photoshop.

I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.

WIP: Final Final Head Render Test.

Okay, I jumped the gun. In my haste to produce a new illustration, I thought my previous test resulted in a realistic image. I was incorrect in that assessment. This image is my final render test. For this image, I modified the skin material just a bit, and completely re-worked the eyes. In the previous tests, I noted that the eyes were just too “flat.” Since the eyes make the picture, I really needed to re-do them. I can always use the feedback.

In my attempt to try and make my male heroic head look more realistic, I decided to do a new render test. With this test, I created “environmental” lighting to try to reduce some of the harsh shadows. I created several multi-pass renders in ZBrush and created the composite in Photoshop. I don’t think I completely achieved my goal, but I believe it is a step closer for when I complete my final illustration.

Digital Illustration.

This latest work was the image I was envisioning when I began the “Grumpy” project… A rampaging beast stopped in his tracks by a little girl holding up a teddy bear. I like to think I captured this image satisfactorily.
